Job Description:

Finance Specialist
Remote - Schedule: 1PM-9PM Beirut Time - Salary: $3,500 - 4,000

Company Overview

The company is a boutique finance partner helping founders and growing teams turn numbers into clear decisions, blending CFO-level strategy with hands-on operations. It brings structured systems, cash flow clarity, and performance insights to modern, digital-first businesses, with a streamlined, operator-led approach spanning bookkeeping, FP&A, and data-driven reporting. The culture is humble, high-ownership, and execution-focused, built around a remote-first environment that values clarity, craftsmanship, and thoughtful communication. If you enjoy solving real problems, building smart processes, and delivering elite-quality work, this is a place where you can make an immediate and visible impact.

Mission

We're hiring a Finance Specialist to own the day-to-day finance engine for our clients—closing the books with precision, building clean reporting, and driving the cash flow insights our clients' leadership needs to scale. Note: this is client-facing e-commerce finance work, not an internal bookkeeper/accountant role for our own agency's finances. You'll handle everything from reconciliations and AP/AR to monthly close, forecasting support, and KPI reporting for clients. You'll partner closely with clients and leadership, help tighten processes, and make sure the right numbers show up in the right places—on time, every time. This role is ideal for someone who loves the blend of operational accounting and analytical FP&A—detail-obsessed, systems-minded, and comfortable recommending smarter ways to work. If you enjoy autonomy, crisp communication, and a high bar for quality, you'll feel right at home.

Key Responsibilities

Your daily tasks will vary, giving you room to learn, grow, and strengthen your skills while supporting the team with excellence.

  • Own financial forecasting for each client, including new vs. returning customer revenue forecasts built from scratch
  • Review client P&L and margins at onboarding and on a monthly basis
  • Serve as a credible finance point of contact who can speak directly with a client's own CFO when needed
  • Own day-to-day bookkeeping: categorize transactions, maintain the chart of accounts, and keep records audit-ready
  • Perform weekly bank, credit card, and payment gateway reconciliations (e.g., Stripe, PayPal)
  • Manage accounts payable: vendor onboarding, bill processing, approvals workflow, and timely disbursements
  • Manage accounts receivable: invoice creation, accurate cash application, and proactive collections follow-up
  • Prepare payroll and contractor payouts in coordination with payroll platforms; ensure accurate classifications and compliance
  • Lead the monthly close: post accruals/deferrals, revenue recognition, prepaids, fixed assets, and deliver timely financial statements
  • Build and maintain a 13-week cash flow model per client; update weekly and flag risks/opportunities, with close attention to cash conversion cycles
  • Develop monthly management reporting packs and KPI dashboards with variance analysis and commentary
  • Partner with clients and leadership on annual budgets and rolling forecasts; support scenario planning and sensitivity analyses
  • Track unit economics, margins, AOV, and client/project profitability; recommend pricing or cost-optimization actions
  • Maintain fluency across Shopify metrics and e-commerce profit-tracking tools, understanding how revenue is defined differently across platforms
  • Implement and document finance processes, internal controls, and SOPs to improve accuracy and speed
  • Liaise with external accountants/tax advisors and occasionally coordinate with the client's existing bookkeeper; prepare supporting schedules for filings and audits
  • Maintain data integrity and integrations across accounting, payroll, banking, expense, and payment tools
  • Drive ad-hoc analysis for strategic decisions (e.g., vendor negotiations, hiring plans, capital allocation)
  • Be senior enough to run this side of the business independently, with the depth to step in fully if needed

Qualifications

  • Years of Experience: 5+ years in e-commerce finance, FP&A, and/or finance operations, with genuine depth in client-facing financial forecasting
  • CRM Tool: Not required
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets (heavy use); real Shopify metrics fluency; Triple Whale or similar e-commerce profit-tracking tools (experience with Iris Finance is a strong positive signal, though not required); QuickBooks Online or Xero (secondary/lighter requirement); Stripe; Bill.com; Gusto or Deel; Ramp or Brex; Power BI or Looker Studio (nice to have)
  • Industry Knowledge Required: Deep e-commerce finance fluency—cash conversion cycles, AOV, building forecasts from scratch; comfortable reviewing P&L/margins and speaking credibly with a client's CFO; GAAP fundamentals; cash flow management
  • Specific Gender: No preference

Skills & Competencies

  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong ownership and follow-through
  • Clear, concise communicator who can translate numbers into actionable insights, including to senior client stakeholders
  • Advanced spreadsheet modeling; comfort building forecasts, reports, and dashboards from scratch
  • Strong grasp of accrual accounting, revenue recognition, and month-end close
  • Strong grasp of e-commerce revenue and margin dynamics across differing tool definitions
  • Process builder who improves systems, documentation, and internal controls
  • Problem-solver with sound judgment and business acumen
  • Able to prioritize, meet tight deadlines, and handle sensitive information confidentially
  • Senior enough to independently own the client finance function

Technical Requirements

  • Own PC or laptop
  • Reliable internet connection (wired connection recommended)
  • Noise-cancelling headset and a quiet, professional workspace
  • Proficiency with cloud accounting, payroll, payments, and expense platforms
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, cloud-based environment and collaborate across time zones

    Position Description
  • Working Hours: Full-time 1PM–9PM Beirut Time
  • Working Days: 5 days a week
  • Days Off: Saturday and Sunday
  • Work Location: Fully-remote, you can work from anywhere
  • PTO: Unlimited/flexible. Standard 1-week notice for short time off. For longer absences (vacations etc.), client wants closer to 2 weeks notice given client-load planning. No fixed holiday calendar needed since PTO is flexible - hires can plan around whatever holidays matter to them.

  • Salary Range: $3,500 - $4,000
